I just nod, I've never been so good at shaking hands
I live on the frozen surface of a fireball
Where cities come together, to hate each other in the name of sport
America, nothing is ever just how you plan
I looked up to you but you thought I would look the other way
And you hear, what you want to hear
And they take what they want to take
Don't be sad, won't ever happen like this anymore
So whens it coming? This life's new great movement that I can join
The warning here
Your faith has got to be greater than your fear
- Julian Casablancas
This video of Julian Casablancas' first attempt at a solo album....*kicks butt!*
It's just the epitome of indie rock/electronica brilliance! I have always admired Julian
while he was the front man of one of my fav bands of all time - "The Strokes"
Yes, it's the story of rich NY upper east side pampered son...turned rebel and turns
towards the gritty and sketchy side of town....with disheveled hair and unkempt looks...
He is the opposite of "poor" starving artist...turned rich, glamorous rockstar! which I kinda find intriguing in a slightly weird way. great song anyways! :)
...It is weird how people always tend to think the grass is greener on the other side....
I think sometimes we long for things we don't have, or because we being perceived a certain way we try to separate ourselves from that "preordained" lifestyle and society. We try to break free and be the total 180 of what others view we are...
I guess, as long as you love and respect who you have become...nobody else matters, in the sense that they don't have a say in who you are. We are clay being molded and shaped everyday... :) never let anybody determine who u are or keep you from being who you long to become!
while our blood's still young...so young it runs, won't stop till it's over. -temper trap
Till next time,
Peace,
Adeline
