Valentine’s Day can mean 4 different things to 4 different people…
Firstly, it maybe the time of the year where couple’s who have been together for some time feel obligated to show additional affection and give grandeur gifts or show romantic gestures to not seem like a total jerk – especially the guy. It is when money has to be spent or roses bought or dinner following a lovely night together is mandatory. Well, these people (couples) see this day as a day to show how much the other person means to him/her. Thus, it is not just a commercialized and money making celebration, but a sweet memorable one *if you are lucky* XD
On the other hand, you have people who are single and have no “crushes” or interests in mind. People with no romantic love notes or text msgs. People who are constantly reminded that this day is depressing and sad *if you hate being single* or just a reminder that you are ALONE. People in category find reassurance that there are others out there like them and feel utterly jealous when their friend cuddles up with their date – but proclaims complete blissfulness and indifference to the holiday.
Then you have people who hate the memory of Valentine’s due to the fact that they had so many memories surrounding Valentine’s Day with their exs. Past loves, and past boyfriends…ruin the holiday for them. These people hear love songs and gag or feel that sharp dagger pierce their fragile heart! Even hurts more when “their song” is being played on the radio!
The last group of people would be those who feel their relationship is new and fresh and Valentine’s Day brings a kind of explosion! That magical touch or feeling you get when you are with your new love…It burns passionately and it brings your relationship to a higher level in just one day! Walking on cloud 9! It makes others sick to their stomach watching the PDA on over drive.
Those my friends are the 4 species of men, the 4 perspectives and the 4 types of people on Valentine’s day….
What does Valentine’s Day mean to you??
Well, mine was in its own way reflective, times a little torturous, an aide memoire. This year was 20 years of being true to myself and honest about my own feelings towards Valentine’s. I had fun and enjoyed single-hood! But, sometimes you would just like to have a special someone to share your thoughts with…but right now, I’m contented where I am and embracing my single life! Single and fabulous. ;)
Hugs, xoxo – Happy Love Day!
