CNY in Eugene...

Chinese New Year!!

Known for making you “F.A.T.” and having a pot belly due to all the pot luck! XD

I love Chinese New YEAR! It is one of the best times I had eating, drinking, playing fireworks *shhh…our lil secret*, and having family time or house hopping!

My fav dish! *green curry* yummy...

The best thing about it is that I can eat Penang food at least once a year…

But this year, the only thing Chinese New Year-ish or resembling CNY is the fact that the buffet cafeteria had laterns and Chinese umbrellas hanging around and they themed the food for the night after Chinese dishes “so called” Chinese dim sum and noodles were served. Other than that, I didn’t feel the CNY spirit this year, it’s the first time ever that I’m celebrating it without my family!! Felt so homesick two days ago…

BUT! My parents were so so sweet and sent me a package with Chinese New Year cards and “ang pow”!! With USD and one with Malaysian Ringgit *just for laughs*

It was so thoughtful, and it came along with a couple of “presents” and gifts…

That night I watched Notting Hill and ordered delivery of Calzones and cookies! D’lish! It was amazing…and beats cafeteria food any time. haha. Life is good here…very laid back and relaxed. Went to play some ultimate Frisbee today…*fun* and had an awesome pizza pinic.

Few days ago were our post Chinese New Year outing/Jesmine’s pre-bd dinner!

We went to Sweet Basil Thai (my fav Thai restaurant in the world!) The food is out of this world, even better than the ones in Malaysia…yeap, it was tasty, hot and spicy (just how I like it)

We ate till our hearts content and went sightseeing around downtown Eugene for 3 hours or so…It was somewhat of a little adventure for us. Never have I seen a street so deserted and quiet at 9pm at night! It was basically us “drunk” looking girls on a high wondering shops and lanes about town…We definitely had a blast! I was thinking of writing an article about, “How to have fun without having to spend money in Eugene at night, when you aren’t over 21!” haha.

Here are some of our wacky photos and glimpses of our quest…the funny thing was that I was the “tour guide” or the person leading the group when I wasn’t even an American or Oregonian. It was easy…just follow the bright lights, you’ll never go wrong. There was a moment where I took them towards a car park! *it was so brightly lighted up ok!*

Met a friendly shop keeper who gave me his shop’s decorations! (it wasn’t even on sale) but, I loved the hearts (plus, I was in the Valentine’s Day mood)

Had quite a week….lots done! Tons of ups and downs *seriously, like a roller coaster – from horrible to fantastic* It was a testing week for me…but by God’s grace I’m fine and still my optimistic self! Hehe.

JUMP for joy! :)

Oh, I finally found a record store called "House of Records" to get my albums!! *yay* super excited to scan through the boxes and aisles. Looks very promising, lots of vinyl stuff sold there. I feel once again like a kid in a candy store... ;)

Till next update…

Cheers!
